Polk-A-Dots

Good morning everyone. Loads of not too much fun happening around here, but I didn't want you to think I forgot about my blog. I haven't. I've been trying to keep lots of balls in the air.

Aren't those lilies and nasturtiums glorious? They are so beautiful. I love the orange polk-a-dot Tiger Lilies. I need to buy more bulbs to plant this autumn. I can't think of another flower with polk-a-dots. Can you? The little brown dots have texture too. They stick out a tiny bit from the petal. Polk-a-dots are a current obsession. In fabric and flowers. I've been looking for socks too. Do you know where I can buy socks?

And before I forget...What do you think of that new royal baby boy? HRH Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. I wonder what they will call him? I can't wait to see his christening photos! All dressed up in the gown. I wonder if he will wear the same one that William wore? Didn't you love Catherines blue polk-a-dot dress? See, I'm not the only one. I'm among royal company!

A Royal Baby

Are you as excited as I am? Checking online every chance you get? A royal Prince, or Princess is due at any minute.  My Mom would be so excited. She fell in love with the royal family when Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. A long time ago. Until the day she died, my Mom had People magazines with Princess Diana. My Niece and I still pay a lot of attention. I get up in the middle of the night to watch all Royal "happenings". Parades, Weddings, Funerals. You name it... Nothing so far.

I'm getting the individual squares ready for stitching for my Sugar Kisses quilt. Nothing exciting to photograph. Just lots of freezer paper, and scraps.

Love Entwined

I have signed up for a block of the month in Yahoo Groups. It is  Love Entwined. The designer is Esther Aliu. Click here for a link to her blog. The link to the group is on the right side of my blog, if you want to take a peek... It is the most intricate applique quilt that I've ever seen. I think it is a once in a lifetime project. I've printed the instructions and the first months pattern. I've gathered all of the fabrics, except for the background. Now, I just need to get started, but I'm afraid. I'm afraid I can't do it. I'm afraid of something I haven't even tried, and that is not like me. Not when it comes to a needle and thread anyway. I will save the files, and print them out. Right now I think I might finish the applique for the two projects I've already started. I'm working on the drawing for Sugar Kisses. We may be out of town for two months, and I always have to have a project with me. I just think that the new pattern would be too much while I'm away. We will see what happens.

Baby

We have a new baby Grandson. Liam. Our seventh Grandchild. We love every single one.

I just have not managed to accomplish even one little thing. I am lucky we managed to eat! Look at that little blotchy brand new face... So squishable!

There is just nothing like having a new baby. Nothing!

Hopefully my brain will become engaged soon...

Wilting But Quilting

I'm wilting. I should have a fainting couch, like Melanie or Scarlet in my favorite book, Gone With The  Wind. It is just as blazing hot as predicted. I walked my dog this morning at 7:30. It was too late. I came home dripping and miserable. Tomorrow I'm either skipping the daily walk, or leaving earlier. I wear my white summer nightgown to bed, and have removed my quilt. We open the windows at bedtime, but I think it's going to be so hot tonight that we may need to leave the air conditioner on.

I'm reading a book, and working on my applique. Here are a few photos, of my work in progress... I'm going to go get another cherry popsicle!
